Glendale, southeast of Burbank, has undergone a rebirth in recent years.
The city's main thoroughfare, Brand Boulevard, boasts big business as well as
shops, cafes and restaurants lining the old-fashioned brick sidewalks. Among one of
Glendale's most exciting attractions is the renovated historic Alex Theatre, a
venue for concerts (and home of the Glendale Symphony Orchestra), plays and musical
performances.
The Valley's largest shopping mall, the Glendale Galleria, winds its
way around downtown Glendale and is anchored by Nordstrom, Robinson's-May, Macy's, Mervyn's
and J.C. Penney.
In the hills of Glendale, visitors will also find Brand Park and
Library, which features an extensive music and arts library, as well as beautiful grounds
offering hiking trails. These same hills hold Glendale's Oakmont Country Club. |
